Fra 1978 til 1989 var skateboard totalforbudt i Norge,
som eneste land i verden kunne man ikke selge, kjøpe
eller bruke skateboard i dette tidsrommet.
Filmen Brettkontroll følger to generasjoner skatere
– fra undergrunnskulturen på slutten av 70-tallet,
med skating på hemmelige steder i skogene rundt
Oslo, til den kommersielle eksplosjonen som skjedde
da opphevelsen kom i 1989.
Filmen sier noe om overformynderiet i Norge, men
viser paradoksalt nok også hvordan forbudet førte til
et helt spesiellt og kreativt miljø.
From 1978 to 1989 skateboarding was illegal in Norway, as the
only country in the world it was not legal to sell, buy or use
skateboard in this period. Brettkontroll (Board Control) follows
two generation of skaters – from the underground culture in the
late 70’s, with skating on secret places in the forest around Oslo,
to the commercial explosion when skating was legalized in 1989.
The film says something about the Norwegian governments
overprotective policy, but it also shows the paradox of how the
prohibition led to a unique and creative environment.
REGISSØR/DIRECTOR
Emil Trier (1981) har gått på The Europeean Film College,
han avslutter for tiden sin Bachelor i Estetikk og Media på
Universitetet. Brettkontroll er hans første dokumentarfilm,
han har tidligere laget kortfilmer og musikkvideoer.
Emil Trier (b. 1981) attended The European Film College,
currently he is finishing his Bachelor in Media Aesthetics.
Brettkontroll (Board Control) is his first documentary.

Et opp-ned holdt time-lapse kamera beveges over
stranden, mens sand og skyer inverteres samtidig
med at været forandrer seg. Resultatet er at et kaotisk
og mystisk rom oppstår der hvor den opprinnelig
stabile grunnen glir sakte forbi, lik en strøm av lava.
An upside-down time-lapse camera moves across a beach,
inverting the sand and sky as the weather changes. The result
is a disorienting and mysterious space where the originally
solid ground at the top of the frame appears to be sliding past
like a lava-stream.

Inger Lise Hansen, Norge, har laget flere eksperimentelle
animasjonsfilmer med støtte fra Arts Council England, Film
London og Det Norske Film instituttet. Hun har vunnet flere
internasjonale priser og flere av hennes tidligere filmer har
blitt vist på Tate Modern, London, Institute of Contemporary
Art, London, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, Museum of
Modern Art, Stockholm og Hiroshima Animation Festival.
Inger Lise Hansen, Norway, has made a number of experimental
animation films with support from Arts Council England,
Film London and the Norwegian Film Institute, and has won
several international prizes such as Gold Prize for animation
at the Bilbao Festival of Documentary and Short Films. Her
earlier films have been screened at Tate Modern, London,
Institute of Contemporary Art, London, Centre Georges
Pompidou, Paris, Museum of Modern Art, Stockholm and
Hiroshima Animation Festival.
Om morgenen 7. juli 2005 var Mikkel H. Eriksen på
undergrunnstoget som eksploderte på Edgware Road
Station under terrorangrepene i London. Den dagen
tok fire unge muslimer sine egne liv, og tok 52 mennesker
med seg. Mikkel kunne gå videre uten skader, og
bestemte seg for å gjøre opplevelsen og alle spørsmålene
som fulgte til en konstruktiv undersøkelse av
hvordan unge muslimers dagligliv i London har endret
seg etter angrepene. Sammen med Nikolaj Bendix
Skyum Larsen har han laget dokumentaren Ripples.
On the morning of July 7th 2005, Mikkel H. Eriksen found
himself on the underground train that was blown up at Edgware
Road Station during the terror attacks on London. That day,
four young Muslims killed themselves and took 52 people
with them. Mikkel walked away unharmed, and decided to
turn his experience and all the questions that followed into a
constructive exploration of how young muslims’ everyday lives
in London had been affected after the attacks. He made the
documentary Ripples with Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen.

fysiske rammene for tanken. Dette er en dokumentar
som utforsker ensomheten og maktesløsheten
innenfor ideen om «frihet». Er frihet en spørsmål om
usikkerhet, lykke, handling eller er det en tilstand?
6 Conceptions of freedom is a study of Alexander Kiellands
plass in Oslo, looking at the social and physical frames of
imagination. It’s a documentary that explores loneliness and
powerlessness in our ideal of “freedom”. Is freedom a question
of uncertainty or happiness, action or condition?

Thomas A Østbye (f. 1979) er utdannet som klipper ved
filmhøyskolen på Lillehammer. Tidligere her han produsert
kortfilmene: Frokost #1 (2001), H&M (2002), Shaping Up
(2004) og I drømmene dine (2005). Han driver også produksjonsselskapet
Plymserafin
Thomas A. Østbye (b. 1979) was educated as an editor at the
Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer. He has previously
directed the shorts Breakfast #1 (2001), H&M (2002), Shaping
Up (2004) and In Your Dreams (2005). He also runs the
production company Plymserafin.

London siden 1992. I 1999 gikk han ut av London Institute

har laget musikk for film, reklame, og danseforestillinger, og
han underviser i film.
Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen, født i Aalborg, Danmark i
1970, er en internasjonalt anerkjent kunstner som jobber
med fotografi, maleri, skulptur, performance og video. OIFF
viste i 2004 Portrait in time og No Place Like Home i 2005.
Mikkel H. Eriksen was born in Denmark in 1974. He has been
living in London since 1992. He has worked on numerous shortfilms,
documentaries and art projects. He has composed music
for film, commercials and dance performances, and teaches
filmmaking part time.
Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen, born in Aalborg, Denmark in
1970, is an internationally acclaimed artist working with photography,
painting, sculpture, performance and video. OIFF screened
Portrait in Time in 2004 and No Place Like Home in 2005.

Bugcrush er historien om Ben, en einstøing og skoleelev
i en liten by som får en stor fascinasjon for en
ny og forførende gutt som leder ham inn i noe som er
mørkere enn han noensinne har forestilt seg. Filmen
om forholdet mellom disse to guttene er bisarr og
mørk.
Bugcrush fikk prisen for beste kortfilm ved årets
Sundancefestival.
Bugcrush is the story of Ben, a small-town high school loner,
whose fascination with Grant, a dangerously seductive new
kid, leads him into something much more sinister than he
could ever have imagined. The film about the relationship
between these two kids is bizarre and dark, and won the jury
prize/best film in the short film category at this year’s Sundance
festival.
