constance L. Sugiyama<br />
Constance L. Sugiyama is the Vice Chair of<br />
Canada Health Infoway and was the first<br />
woman Chair of the Hospital for Sick Children.<br />
Recognized over her 35 year career on Bay<br />
Street as a leading Canadian corporate and<br />
mergers and acquisitions lawyer, Constance<br />
has held leadership positions in several major<br />
law firms, most recently as Deputy Chair and<br />
partner of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. She<br />
has also been recognized for professional<br />
excellence and leadership by Women in Capital<br />
Markets (2009), International Alliance for<br />
Women (2010) and named one of Canada’s Top<br />
100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s<br />
Executive Network in 2009 and 2011. Constance<br />
has served on many public and private sector<br />
boards as well as advisory committees including,<br />
the Hospital for Sick Children, Canada Health<br />
Infoway, The Toronto International Film<br />
Festival Group, SickKids Foundation, Luminato,<br />
Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Asia <strong>Pacific</strong><br />
Foundation of Canada, Ontario Exports Inc.,<br />
The Nikko Securities Co. Canada, Ltd., the<br />
Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and the<br />
Japanese Canadian Redress Foundation and<br />
Women in Capital Markets. Constance recently<br />
joined Ryerson University as a Distinguished<br />
Visiting Scholar in its Law Research Centre.<br />
raj anand<br />
Raj Anand is a partner and an arbitrator and<br />
mediator with WeirFoulds LLP. His practice<br />
includes the areas of administrative, human<br />
rights, constitutional and employment law, civil<br />
litigation, professional negligence and discipline.<br />
He is a former Chief Commissioner of the<br />
Ontario Human Rights Commission, and has<br />
also served on several administrative tribunals:<br />
the Boards of Inquiry under the Ontario Human<br />
Rights Code and the Police Services Act, as<br />

Co-Chair of the University of Toronto Tribunal<br />
and now on the Law Society Hearing Tribunal.<br />
He is a member of the Equity and Aboriginal<br />
Issues Committee, the Articling Task Force, and<br />
the Professional Development and Competence<br />
Committee, and the Chair of the Working Group<br />
on Challenges Faced by Racialized Licensees. He<br />
has won numerous awards, including the 2010<br />
award for Distinguished Career from the South<br />
<strong>Asian</strong> Bar Association. In 2013 he will be an<br />
inauguaral McMurtry Fellow at Osgoode Hall<br />
Law School.<br />
jeffrey w. Lem<br />
Jeffrey W. Lem, a partner in the real estate<br />
group in the Toronto/Markham offices of<br />
Miller Thomson LLP, received his B.Comm.<br />
from the University of Toronto in 1984, a J.D.<br />
from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1987, and<br />
an LL.M. from the Osgoode Hall Law School<br />
in 2002. He was called to the Ontario Bar in<br />
1989 and admitted to the rolls as a solicitor in<br />
England and Wales in 2000. Jeffrey is certified<br />
as a Specialist in Real Estate Law by The Law<br />
Society of Upper Canada and has been awarded<br />
the Ontario Bar Association’s Award for<br />
Excellence in Real Estate. He has also received<br />
Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating (AV®), and<br />
has been recognized in the real estate field in<br />
The Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory, The<br />
Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading<br />
500 Lawyers in Canada, The Best Lawyers in<br />
Canada, Chambers Global Guide to the World’s<br />
Leading Lawyers for Business and Leaders in<br />

of Real Estate Lawyers. Jeffrey is currently an<br />
editor-in-chief of the Real Property Reports and<br />
a Regent of the American College of Mortgage<br />
Attorneys (ACMA).
