1.2.3. <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>300</strong> and <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>400</strong> IOPs<br />

Each type of IOP has its own microcode. The <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>300</strong> and <strong>400</strong> <strong>Server</strong>s support the<br />

following type of I/O processor:<br />

• SIOP, Storage IOP<br />

The SIOP supports PCI cards that connect to tapes and disks. The cards are<br />

classified as Host Bus Adapters (HBA). The PCI cards can be Fibre, SCSI, or<br />

SBCON.<br />

The <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>300</strong> <strong>Server</strong> supports the following types of I/O processors:<br />

• CIOP, Communications IOP<br />

The CIOP supports an Ethernet PCI card. This is also known as a network interface<br />

card (NIC). CIOP is not supported on <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>400</strong>.<br />

• XIOP, Extended IOP<br />

The XIOP supports one connection to the XPC-L. The Myrinet is the only<br />

supported card. The Myrinet card only goes into slot 0. Slot 1 must remain unused.<br />

XIOP is not supported on <strong>Dorado</strong> <strong>400</strong>.<br />
