PCI-Based I/O Hardware
Example
Figure 1–13. Top View of the I/O Module
The area in the ellipse shows the locations for IOP1 and the PCI card slots the IOP
controls (more about the types of IOPs and PCI cards later).
The area in the ellipse is set up at the factory with an SIOP in PCI slot 0 and a DVD
Interface Card in PCI slot 1. Due to cable length limitations, this location must be used
for the DVD interface since it is closest to the DVD reader. (For more information on
DVD, see 1.6.2.) The other PCI slot, slot 0, can be used for an SIOP, an HBA, or a PCI
Host Bridge Card to an expansion rack.
The following figure shows IOPs in an I/O Module.
• The CIOP controls two NICs.
• One SIOP has two HBAs.
• One SIOP has an interface to a DVD and a PCI Host Bridge Card to two fibre HBAs
in an expansion rack.
Notes:
• CIOP is not supported on Dorado 400.
• This example does not apply to the Dorado 4000, 4100 or 4200. See Figures 1–
14, 1–15, 1–16, and 1–17 for the Dorado 4000 and 4100 connections.
