Slot 1 is the rightmost slot and slot 7 is the leftmost slot. It is not recommended to put an SBCON HBA in slot 5 or 6, as this will restrict the PCI bus to 66 MHz PCI mode for both slots 5 and 6. Some of them are based upon limiting the amount of engineering effort associated with testing the numerous combinations that would otherwise be possible. The following tables and the rules that follow them should be adhered while configuring Dorado 4200 Series systems. DORADO 4200 SERIES Slot Card Type(s) 1–6. PCI-Based I/O Hardware • The order for installing I/O Manager Host cards is: Slot 7, 3. Note that the host card in slot 7 must use a full-height face plate and the host card in slot 3 must use a half-height face plate. • The order for installing NICs is: Slot 6, 2, 5, and 4, 1. Note that the NICs in slots 4 tp 6 must use a full-height face plate and the NICs in slots 1 to 2 must use a halfheight face plate. 1.3.10. Dorado 300 I/O Addressing The following figure shows a Dorado 300 Series with eight IP cells, each IP cell connected to its corresponding I/O Module. Figure 1–24. Dorado 300 Cabinet with IP Cells and I/O Cells The location within the cabinet is not flexible. For example, IP Cell 0 must be in the location shown. If there is an IP Cell 1, it must be in the location shown. The I/O Modules must also be in the location shown. Notice how the I/O Module 0 is below IP Cell 0 and how the pattern reverses as each IP cell is added. The figure shows eight IP cells (for a 32x system) with an I/O Module corresponding to each IP cell. Each cell and I/O Module pair has a unique number (0 through 7). This number is used in the I/O addressing done by OS 2200. OS 2200 requires a unique address for every path and device. As part of that addressing scheme, the path through the I/O complex must be identifiable by a unique value. 3839 6586–010 1–33
