Summary:
The Michells Plain Advice Office tries to help the unemployed by
bringing them together so they can discuss their problems and
develop a sense of community. They also provide food and help out
with financial problems (eg energy bills). Also a mobile clinic is
organised, where medical students do health check ups. They have
organised a run in order to raise money for their relief projects.

Summary:
An examination of the historic miner's strike which began on the
9th August and lasted three weeks. Although the miners failed to
win all their demands, their leader Cyril Ramaphosa hailed the
strike as an organisational victory, which laid foundations for
more significant gains in 1988. Jay Naidoo, COSATU General
Secretary emphasises that in spite of management's strike -breaking
tactics, which included violent use of police, sackings, arrest and
employment of scab-labour, that there would be greater
determination to resist in the future.
