CHECKING THE START RELAY<br />
To check the efficiency of the relay switch:<br />
– Energize (12 V) the two male terminals (85 - 86).<br />
– Using an ohmmeter-tester, check the continuity between<br />
the other two terminals (87 - 30).<br />
Correct value with relay energized: 0 Ω<br />
Correct value with relay not energized: ∞ ∞ Ω<br />

CHECKING THE STARTER MOTOR<br />
Directly energize the starter motor (12 VDC).<br />
The starter motor should start up and cause the engine<br />
to run, absorbing a current of 20 - 25 A.<br />
If the starter motor does not start up, check and if<br />
necessary, replace the brushes.<br />
