The Slovak Republic emerged from the former
Czechoslovakia through splitting the
country on January 1, 1993. Since 2004

The Czech Republic was formed on January 1,
1993 as a succession state of the former
Czechoslovakia. Just eight years after dissolving
the Warsaw Pact the Czech Republic became
a member of the NATO and joined the
European Union on May 1, 2004. After the so
called “Gentle Revolution” of 1989 the economy

population of 5.5 million are living in this
area. Slovakia has completed the turnaround
from a command to a market economy
very successfully. The structural reforms are
rather advanced and economic stability has
been achieved. Since the banking sector is
almost completely in the hands of foreign
companies investments from the outside
are growing continuously. The economic
growth of about 10% per year is about the
highest in the OECD countries and the second
largest in the EU.
Already in 2005 one of the fi rst KROMI subsidiaries
was opened in Slovakia. Two years
later KROMI Slovakia s.r.o. was founded as
a daughter company located in Prievidza.
From here KROMI Slovakia services a number
of well known companies which have
settled in Slovakia with a production site for
low cost reasons.
and thus enjoyed a rapid and positive development.
Nevertheless the largest portion of
the GDP is generated in the service sector. The
major part of industry in the Czech Republic
is made up of producing modern industrial
equipment installed mainly in Western Europe
and other highly developed states in the
world. The automotive industry also plays a
major role. SKODA – today a daughter company
of Volkswagen – belongs to the biggest
corporations of the country and represents a
fundamental share of the Czech exports.
Parallel to the foundation of the Slovakian
daughter company KROMI established its
own Czech daughter company KROMI CZ s.r.o.
in 2007. From Liberec in the country´s North
as well as from Olomouc located in the South
the KROMI team looks after numerous manufacturing
companies in the metal processing
industrial sector.
