7. <strong>Student</strong>s must have written teacher approval to be a T.A.<br />

WITHDRAW FAILING/PASSING<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s dropping a course after the sixth (6th) week of the semester will be given a WP (Withdrawn<br />

Passing) if they have a passing grade or a WF (Withdrawn Failing) if they have a failing<br />

grade. WP will not be counted towards GPA or credit WF will be treated as an F.<br />

STUDENT WITHDRAWAL/TRANSFER RULE<br />

All students requesting to withdraw from <strong>JCHS</strong> less than ten (10) days before the end of a semester<br />

should present a copy of the parent’s military transfer orders or documentation of a civilian job<br />

transfer to the student’s academy principal. These students will be issued final grades showing the<br />

status of school work to date (as of the day of departure from school).<br />

TUTORING<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s having academic difficulty in any class should consult their teacher and/or counselor.<br />

CLASSIFICATION<br />

For classification, students must have earned the following number of credits:<br />

Sophomore —5 credits Junior — 11 credits Senior — 17 credits.<br />

TESTING AND SCHOLARSHIP DATES<br />

Seniors should complete applications to colleges or vocational-technical schools during the first<br />

semester. For assistance, see the career counselor or academy counselor.<br />

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS<br />

A student must earn a minimum of twenty-four (24) credits beyond the eighth grade. Sixteen and<br />

one-half (16.5) of those credits must be in the areas specified. The additional seven and one half<br />

(7.5) minimum units may be chosen from offerings in any curricular area.<br />

In order to graduate from Junction City High School, a student must also complete two nonacademic<br />

requirements. The Service Learning Requirement is 35 hours of volunteer community<br />

service for a student who attends <strong>JCHS</strong> for four years and is prorated at 9 hours per year for students<br />

who attend <strong>JCHS</strong> less than four years. In order to receive credit, the student’s service must<br />

be volunteer, non-paid, and outside of the instructional day. The Activity Participation Require-
