Before a student is eligible to practice, a ―JCHS Athletic Packet‖ must be turned into the Athletic Department (room 102). The student must be in good standing academically and not on a disciplinary contract. The athletic program adheres to the rules and regulations of the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Forms must be turned in with the JCHS athletic packet and DATED AFTER MAY 1, 2010. Fall Sports: B/G Cross Country, Football, (B) Soccer, (G) Tennis, Volleyball Beginning Date: August 16, 2010 JCHS ATHLETIC PACKET DUE BEFORE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE. The League schools include Junction City, Manhattan, Topeka, Topeka West, Seaman, Shawnee Heights, Hayden, Washburn Rural, Emporia, and Highland Park. KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION – ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS JCHS adheres to the KSHSAA eligibility requirements. A student, to be eligible to participate in interscholastic activities, must be certified by the school principal as meeting all eligibility standards. A summarization of KSHSAA rule states: YOU ARE ELIGIBLE IF: 1. You are a bona fide undergraduate student in good standing. An undergraduate is one who has completed fewer than twenty-one (21) units of high school credit or has not been granted a diploma. 2. Your conduct and standard of sportsmanship are satisfactory and do not bring discredit to yourself or school. 3. You will not be nineteen (19) on or before September 1 of the current school year. 4. You have not completed eight semesters of competition and/or attendance, or more than four seasons in one activity in a four-year school, six semesters and three seasons in a three-year school, four semesters and two seasons in a two-year school. Fifteen (15) days of attendance or participation man inter-school activity shall constitute a semester’s eligibility. 5. You passed five subjects of unit weight your last semester of attendance without relying on work that is incomplete. No make up work is permitted after the close of the semester for the purpose of becoming eligible. (If you are a first semester high school student, you must have passed five subjects of unit weight in your last semester of junior high attendance). 6. You are attending and enrolled in five subjects of unit weight. 7. The last two semesters of possible eligibility are consecutive. 8. You do not engage in outside athletic competition in the same sport while you are a member of a school squad. You should consult your coach or principal before you participate individually or on a team in any game, training session or tryout conducted by an outside organization. 9. You have passed an adequate physical examination by a practicing physician and have the written consent of your parents or legal guardian. (The completed form must be in the hands of your principal prior to your first practice.) 10. You are regularly enrolled and in attendance not later than Monday of the fourth week of the semester in which you participate. 11. If you drop out of school four weeks or less before the semester ends and have completed a sufficient amount of work to give them a semesters worth of credit, without relying on work that is incomplete, you are eligible for the following semester.
