12. You are a transfer student and have met the requirements of the transfer rule. (<strong>Student</strong>s may not<br />
transfer from one secondary school to another and become eligible until they have been in attendance<br />
eighteen (18) weeks unless their parents or legal guardian move to a permanent residence<br />
in the vicinity of the new school to which the student transfers. Contact the principal concerning<br />
this regulation.)<br />
13. You are not a member of any fraternity or other organization prohibited by law or by the rules<br />
of the KSHSAA.<br />
14. You have not competed under a false name.<br />
15. You have not competed for money or merchandise of intrinsic value and have observed all<br />
other provisions of the Amateur Award Rules.<br />
<strong>JCHS</strong> ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITION<br />
(ELIGIBILITY)<br />
Athlete eligibility will checked at the end of the first 6 weeks and every 3 weeks thereafter during<br />
the semester. At these times, students not passing 5 academic classes will be declared ineligible<br />
for competition during the next 3 week period. <strong>Student</strong>s listed on the ineligible list will not be able<br />
to compete or attend home/away activities.<br />
<strong>JCHS</strong> ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT<br />
Any student participating in any athletic program sponsored by <strong>JCHS</strong> must follow the guidelines set<br />
forth in the ―<strong>JCHS</strong> Athletic Code of Conduct‖. Please see Athletic <strong>Student</strong>-Parent <strong>Handbook</strong> for<br />
information regarding code of conduct. The Athletic <strong>Student</strong>-Parent <strong>Handbook</strong> is available on the<br />
athletic department web-site or you may obtain a hard copy from the athletic department office<br />
(room 102).<br />
RULE 52<br />
In keeping with the Kansas State High School Activities Association requirement to encourage and<br />
enforce good sportsmanship, we ask that all students/fans assist us in honoring Rule 52.<br />
Rule 52 requires the following:<br />
• Be courteous to all. (participants, coaches, officials, staff, and fans)<br />
• Know the rules, abide by and respect the officials’ decisions.<br />
• Win with character and lose with dignity.<br />
• Display appreciation for good performance regardless of the team and school.<br />
• Exercise self-control and reflect positively upon yourself, team and school.<br />
• Permit only positive sportsmanlike behavior to reflect on your school or its activities.<br />
• All actions are to be for, not against; positive, not negative or disrespectful!<br />
• <strong>Student</strong>s/fans who violate rule 52, or who display any type of poor sportsmanship, will be<br />
ejected from the activity; may be subject to loss of privilege of attending school activities, as<br />
well as further disciplinary actions.<br />
ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE<br />
Any student participating in any athletic or activity program sponsored by KSHSAA and/or <strong>JCHS</strong><br />
must be in attendance at school for the entire day’s schedule of classes in order to be eligible and<br />
in good standing to practice, perform or compete later on that day or night. This policy applies to<br />
but is not limited to the following types of activities:<br />
1. Athletic practices, meetings, contests.<br />
2. Musical and drama rehearsals, performances, contests, tryouts and festivals.<br />
3. Drill team, cheerleaders, JROTC clinics, interviews, tryouts, rehearsals, performances, fund<br />
raisers.<br />
4. Club and organizational meetings, fund raising, projects, conferences, workshops, contests, or<br />
other activities sponsored by that club.
