18, 1681. daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>John</strong> and Lydia<br />

Curtiss <strong>of</strong> We<strong>the</strong>rs-<br />

field. His will was dated January 16, 1729-30, and <strong>the</strong><br />

inventory <strong>of</strong> his estate was made March 24, 1731-2, his<br />

widow Elizabeth outliving him. lie left nine children. The<br />

children by Hannah <strong>Clark</strong> were :<br />

1. Hannah, b. Aug. 29, 1704; m. (Aug. 13, 1729, David<br />

<strong>Clark</strong>, born Sept. 5, 1705, in North Haven, son <strong>of</strong><br />

Samuel and Mary (Brown) <strong>Clark</strong>. He lived in<br />

Blanders district in Southington. See Sketches <strong>of</strong><br />

Soutliington, H. B. Timloio, page li.)<br />

ii. JosiAH, b. Aug. 18, 1706; m. Dec. 19, 1733, Sarah<br />

Woodford <strong>of</strong> <strong>Farmington</strong>, born June 4, 1714, daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Joseph and Lydia (Smith) Woodford.<br />

JONES.<br />

Rachel^ QJolirC), m. Caleb Jones, who is named in Bar-<br />

ber's Historical Collections <strong>of</strong> <strong>Conn</strong>ecticut as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ten<br />

who commenced <strong>the</strong> settlement <strong>of</strong> Hebron in 1704. He was<br />

prohahly son <strong>of</strong> Samuel and Mary (Bushnell) Jones. Caleb<br />

died before January 16, 1711-2, when an inventory was made<br />

<strong>of</strong> his estate, including "land at Saybrook, 33 acres at Oyster<br />

River Quarter." Administration was granted April 7. 1712,<br />

to his widow Rachel, who married January 26, 1713-4, Israel<br />

Phelps <strong>of</strong> Enfield, Ct , whose wife Mary had died April 7,<br />

171 '). She was prohahly <strong>the</strong> Mary born at Salem, March 11,<br />

1081, daughter <strong>of</strong> Robert and Abigail (Randall) Pease, who<br />

is said in <strong>the</strong> Pease Genealogy to have married Israel Phelps<br />

in 1703. Israel Phelps was appointed July 5, 1714, guardian<br />

<strong>of</strong> his wife's children, Caleb Jones aged about 8 years, Sylvanus<br />

about 6, Mary about 5, and Hezekiah about 3. The<br />

children <strong>of</strong> Rachel were :<br />
