Trademarks and other rights acquired for valuable consideration<br />
are stated initially at acquisition cost, while internally<br />
generated software is stated at manufacturing cost.<br />
Thereafter, goodwill and trademark rights and other rights<br />
with indefinite useful lives are subject to an impairment test<br />
at least once a year (“impairment only” approach). In the<br />
course of our annual impairment test, we reviewed the carrying<br />
amounts of goodwill and trademark rights and other rights<br />
with indefinite useful lives. The following table shows the<br />
cash-generating units together with the associated goodwill<br />
and trademark rights and other rights with indefinite useful<br />
lives at book value at the reporting date. The description<br />
of the cash-generating units can be found in the Group<br />
management report on pages 76 to 87.
