Edvin Vestergaard Kau<br />

Born 1947. Ph.D., assoc. pr<strong>of</strong>., Department <strong>of</strong> Information and Media Science,<br />

University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Aarhus</strong>. Teaches film and television theory and media analysis.<br />

Has written books and a number <strong>of</strong> articles on literature; multimedia; film<br />

history, theory, and analysis. Books include Filmen i Danmark (Danish film<br />

industry from the advent <strong>of</strong> sound till the ‘80s, with Niels Jørgen Dinnesen,<br />

Mark Le Fanu<br />

Born 1950. M.A. in Literature (Cambridge University). Teaches film history at<br />

the European Film College, Denmark. Contributor to various periodicals<br />

(Positif, Sight & Sound, Prospect, p.o.v.). Author <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Cinema <strong>of</strong> Andrei Tarkovsky<br />

(BFI Books, 1987) and <strong>of</strong> a forthcoming study <strong>of</strong> the films <strong>of</strong> Kenji Mizoguchi.<br />

Born 1971. B.A. in English Studies with Film and TV Studies as a minor. Studied<br />

Anemone Platz<br />

Born 1962. M.A. in Sociology with Japanese Studies and Hispanics (Freiburg<br />

University), Ph.D. in Japanese Studies (Vienna University). Teaches at the<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> East Asian Studies, University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Aarhus</strong>. Fields <strong>of</strong> research are<br />

Japanese modern and contemporary society and culture, especially socialization<br />

Antti Santeri Pönni<br />

Born 1963. FM (Master <strong>of</strong> philosophy) in Film and Television Studies (University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Turku, Finland). Teaches Film Studies at the University <strong>of</strong> Oulu,<br />

Finland. Currently writing thesis on Robert Bresson's writings on film.<br />

Richard Raskin<br />

Born 1941, New York. Ph.D., Dr.Phil., assoc. pr<strong>of</strong>. Teaches screenwriting and<br />

video production at the Department <strong>of</strong> Information and Media Studies, University<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Aarhus</strong>. Books include: <strong>The</strong> Functional Analysis <strong>of</strong> Art (1982), Nuit et<br />

Brouillard (1987), Life is Like a Glass <strong>of</strong> Tea (1992), Kortfilmen som fortælling (2001)<br />

and <strong>The</strong> Art <strong>of</strong> the Short Fiction Film (forthcoming). Has served as jury president<br />

at international film festivals in France, Belgium, India, and Holland, as "grand<br />

Kirsten Sørensen<br />

Born 1974. B.A. in Scandinavian Languages and Literature and Film and TV,<br />

University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Aarhus</strong>. Co-producer <strong>of</strong> the documentary short-film Jutta Ravn, an<br />

exam project at the Department <strong>of</strong> Information and Media Studies. Currently<br />
