Multi-functional and simple use:
- Inner canopies can stay attached to
rainfly at all times;
- Rainfly can be used alone for storage
or for basic shelter;
- Inner canopy can be used alone in
clear weather, with or without a tarp
cover (pole pockets at the corners enable
this configuration);
- Unhook part of the canopy to increase
the space beneath the fly;
- Numerous zipper sliders allow the
door to be opened in many different
positions.
Freestanding and spacious:
- Most models are either freestanding
or require just a few stakes*. Such
designs enable Exped tents to be easily
moved to a new location or to be
cleaned by shaking overhead. Developed
by Exped, the “ridge tunnel tent“
is a new type of structure that combines
a Tunnel design‘s maximum usable
space with the Dome‘s freestanding
capability.
*With any tent, a few stakes ensure
that a tent is not carried off by
the wind.
Easy maintenance:
- Tent poles‘ end caps remove easily
to adjust the shock cord in changing
weather conditions or to replace
a broken pole section.
- Pole tension pockets are made with
strong, but simple materials (webbing
and a small pole section). In
the event of a failure, such materials
can be repaired any place and do not
depend upon plastic parts that can
break at the worst times.
- All Exped tents include spare parts:
zipper sliders, adhesive patch fabric,
and emergency pole repair segments.
Easy packing:
- Specific length pole sections allow
the packed tent to fit square into
most large packs, and uniform length
pole sections mean that just one section
can address most any situation;
- Long, narrow accessory pockets occupy
small spaces when packed;
- Side entry packsacks surround the
rolled tent without effort or strain.
Quality materials:
- Non-Extreme models‘ rainfly fabric is
strong, lightweight ripstop polyester:
UV-resistant and meets CPAI-84 flame
retardant guidelines. Extra strong PU
coatings on the fabric‘s underside offer
long wearing waterproofness.
Practical packsack. Versatile. Freestanding. Field maintainable.
- Extreme models‘ fly fabric is a strong,
super lightweight, double silicone
coated ripstop nylon with improved
UV- and tear-resistance. However,
silicone coated fabrics do not meet
CPAI-84 fire retardant guidelines. (See
tent models for specifics).
- All Floors are made from durable, taffeta
nylon with heavy PU coatings;
have a waterproof rating of 14+ PSI
(10,000+ mm) water pressure; and are
either factory seam taped or seamless
to maximize strength.
- Mosquito netting is an ultra fine, very
UV-resistant No-See-Um polyester.
- Poles are state-of-the-art extruded,
seamless aircraft DAC 7001-T6 aluminum
- very rigid but soft enough to
yield in strong wind. DAC poles snap
back to position without breakage or
damage to the fly. And DAC poles are
less likely to burr if they do snap together.
- Reliable YKK zippers in the fly and canopy
are sewn smooth side out to reduce
exposure to dirt, which could
cause premature wear.
- Aircraft aluminum stakes are provided
in two grades: V-profile stakes for
hard ground; ultra lightweight, Uprofile
stakes for soft earth.
- Ample Guy Lines include special, adjustable
tensioners that secure around
most fixed objects without complicated
knots. Key lines are provided with
Exped‘s own, Cord Stuffsacks (also
available separately).
- Guy Lines and Zipper Pulls feature silver
colored threads to improve visibility
and help avoid accidents. Zipper
Pulls glow, and are color coded and
reflective for easy handling. Sheaths
and cores can be separated to increase
usable length.
Quality workmanship:
- Lap-felled seams (4 inter-wrapped fabric
layers) are single or double factory
taped. Stress points are reinforced
with extra-duty patches and
are sewn with crossover stitching to
better distribute forces over larger
areas of fabric.
- Thread used throughout is ‘polyester
core, cotton wrap’ that expands when
wet to fill needle holes in edges,
ground reinforcements and silicone
treated fabrics.

Warranty and service:
Exped tents carry a 5 year,
limited warranty on
defects in workmanship
and materials. At its
discretion, Exped will repair
or replace any part
that fails due to manufacturing
defect. Failures
due to normal wear, negligence,
accidents and
acts of nature can usually
be repaired for a nominal
charge. Please see
