Rijnkade
Luitenant-kolonel John Frost vervolgde zijn opmarsroute naar de brug via de
Rijnkade en parallel gelegen wegen als de Weerdjesstraat. De hele omgeving
van de brug werd daarna frontgebied; de verwoesting door de hevige gevechten
was enorm. Bij de wederopbouw van dit stuk Arnhem is een heel nieuw stadsdeel
aangelegd.
Lieutenant-colonel John Frost continued his advance to the bridge via the
Rijnkade and parallel roads such as Weerdjesstraat. The whole area around
the bridge became the front line and the destruction resulting from the heavy
fighting was enormous. This part of the town was completely renewed during
the post-war reconstruction of this area of Arnhem.
Die Aufmarschroute von Oberstleutnant John Frost zur Brücke führte über
die Rijnkade und die parallel verlaufenden Straßen wie die Weerdjesstraat.
Die Front nahm anschließend die gesamte Umgebung der Brücke ein.
Die Verwüstungen durch die heftigen Gefechte waren enorm. Beim
Wiederaufbau dieses Teils von Arnheim entstand ein komplett neues
Stadtviertel.
