Robert Edwards suffered a fatal<br />

heart attack on June 23, 2006,<br />

after responding to a mobile home<br />

fire. He was a 23-year veteran<br />

with <strong>the</strong> department.<br />

He was survived by his wife, Mary;<br />

his son, Robert Mat<strong>the</strong>w Edwards;<br />

three sisters, Sandra Bright, Mary<br />

Lou Edwards, and Marg Ann<br />

Brown; and two bro<strong>the</strong>rs,<br />

Steve Edwards, and David<br />

Hendrix.<br />

Firefighters have a very simple job description—<strong>the</strong>y’re expected to be at <strong>the</strong><br />

wrong place, at <strong>the</strong> wrong time, with <strong>the</strong> ‘right stuff.’ Firefighters aren’t heroes<br />

because of what <strong>the</strong>y do…<strong>the</strong>y’re heroes because each of <strong>the</strong>m knows full well<br />

what <strong>the</strong>y might have to do; and despite that, <strong>the</strong>y carry that badge and that<br />

responsibility every day.<br />
