Robert Edwards suffered a fatal
heart attack on June 23, 2006,
after responding to a mobile home
fire. He was a 23-year veteran
with the department.
He was survived by his wife, Mary;
his son, Robert Matthew Edwards;
three sisters, Sandra Bright, Mary
Lou Edwards, and Marg Ann
Brown; and two brothers,
Steve Edwards, and David
Hendrix.
Firefighters have a very simple job description—they’re expected to be at the
wrong place, at the wrong time, with the ‘right stuff.’ Firefighters aren’t heroes
because of what they do…they’re heroes because each of them knows full well
what they might have to do; and despite that, they carry that badge and that
responsibility every day.
