Mark Stanley died April 13, 2006, when<br />
he was struck by a falling tree<br />
while preparing for a prescribed<br />
burn. A 28-year veteran with <strong>the</strong><br />
Tennessee Division of Forestry,<br />
he served as a forestry technician<br />
for most of those years.<br />
He began his career in 1978<br />
in Brownsville. In 1997, he<br />
transferred to Hardeman<br />
County, where he supervised<br />
wildfire suppression<br />
and forest management<br />
activities. He also had<br />
experience as an advanced firefighter, squad<br />
boss, helicopter crew member, equipment<br />
manager, and base camp<br />
manager.<br />
Mark was survived by his son,<br />
Jason Stanley; his daughter,<br />
Stephanie Stanley; his<br />
fa<strong>the</strong>r and stepmo<strong>the</strong>r,<br />
Earl and Armandina<br />
Stanley; three bro<strong>the</strong>rs,<br />
Anthony, Sammy, and<br />
Paul Stanley; and his sister,<br />
Carolyn Stanley.<br />
No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all<br />
directions, and <strong>the</strong> roots spring up and make new trees. <strong>The</strong> greatest work<br />
that kindness does to o<strong>the</strong>rs is that it makes <strong>the</strong>m kind <strong>the</strong>mselves.<br />
