Richard Washington suffered a fatal heart<br />
attack while doing physical training<br />
at <strong>the</strong> station as part of his duty shift.<br />
A 17-year veteran, he spent most<br />
of his time assigned to Station<br />
16, one of <strong>the</strong> busiest stations in<br />
<strong>the</strong> department. Throughout<br />
his distinguished career, he<br />
rendered care and aid to<br />
countless citizens of Clark<br />
County, as well as protecting<br />
numerous structures<br />
and property.<br />
Born February 10,<br />
1957, in Walla Walla,<br />
Washington, Richard had lived in Las Vegas<br />
for 22 years. He loved sports, music, fine<br />
cigars and, most of all, his family<br />
and fire department bro<strong>the</strong>rs and<br />
sisters.<br />
He was survived by his<br />
mo<strong>the</strong>r, Belle Washington;<br />
his wife, Mary Washington;<br />
his son, David; his daughter,<br />
Charlotta; his bro<strong>the</strong>rs,<br />
James and Charles;<br />
and his sisters, Sharon<br />
and Gloria. He also leaves<br />
behind a larger family,<br />
his beloved bro<strong>the</strong>rs and<br />
sisters of <strong>the</strong> CCFD.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. <strong>The</strong>re is<br />
no greater contribution than to help <strong>the</strong> weak. <strong>The</strong>re is no greater<br />
satisfaction than to have done it well.<br />
