ODBC Scalar Functions<br />

This section lists scalar functions that ODBC supports and are available to use in<br />

OpenEdge <strong>SQL</strong> statements, as described in the following sections:<br />

• Scalar functions<br />

• System functions<br />

Table 67, Table 68, and Table 69 list the scalar functions that ODBC supports. You can use<br />

these functions in <strong>SQL</strong> statements using the following syntax:<br />

Syntax<br />

{fn scalar-function}<br />

scalar-function is one of the functions listed in the following tables. For example:<br />

SELECT {fn UCASE(NAME)} FROM EMP<br />

String functions<br />

Table 66 lists the string functions that ODBC supports.<br />

The string functions listed can take the following arguments:<br />

• string_exp can be the name of a column, a string literal, or the result of another scalar<br />

function, where the underlying data type is <strong>SQL</strong>_CHAR or <strong>SQL</strong>_VARCHAR.
