Cr Oscar Aertssen served as a
member of the Victoria Police Force
for 37 years before retiring in 2009.
He is dedicated to developing and
empowering communities to reach
their potential. He is active in the
community and is a graduate of the
Loddon Murray Community
Leadership Program. Cr Aertssen
was elected as Deputy Mayor
in 2007 and 2008.

Cr Lui Basile served Gannawarra Shire
for three terms as Mayor before
deciding in December 2006 not to
stand for a fourth term. He has
extensive local government
experience, having previously served
eleven years on the former Borough of
Kerang Council. Cr Basile is a
practising solicitor and has held Board
positions with Lower Murray Water
and the former Kerang Water Board
and Sewerage Authority. He continues
to be a very active and dedicated
member of Council.
CR NEIL GANNON

Cr Neil Gannon served his
apprenticeship as a motor mechanic
specialising in diesel engineering. On
completing his apprenticeship he was
employed by Massey Ferguson as a
Specialist Tractor Service
Representative. After a number of
years with Massey Ferguson Cr
Gannon left the company to establish
his own successful specialised diesel
engineering business. He later sold
this business and entered the hotel
industry, an industry in which he was
involved for 20 years, the last fourteen
of them at the Mystic Park Hotel. Cr
Gannon then sold the hotel and
bought into a packaged ice
manufacturing and distribution
business in Swan Hill, a business he
operated until his retirement in 2003.
In that same year, Cr Gannon was
invited to take up the post as
Executive Officer for the Packaged Ice
Association of Australasia Inc, a
position he continues to hold. Cr
Gannon is also a member of New
South Wales Food Authority Steering
Group.
