OCHS loses two students
Ronald Moretti
Ron Moretti Jr. was quite a per-
. The many people he touched
with his quiet ways and friendly
personality will truly miss him.
As a member of the foo tball team
nd catcher for the baseball team, he
ihowed talent and relentless effort in
Bverythinghe aitempted.
I . Ron will be remembered for his
tfun-loving sense of humor. He could
always make everyone laugh; even
through the tough times. If Ron were
with us today, he'd want to smile and
laugh and for us to do the same.
Our loss of such a great person
ind friend will be easier to cope with
jecause of his influence on us.
Although it's tough for everyone
now, Ron will always be with us in
>ur thoughts for the rest of our lives.
'om»y and Friends of Cfci^yl,
indRon: Theldssofsdrneoneclosetb
m is always devastating. It is impossible
to get through a situation of
this nature without a tremendous
amount of grief, It seems that when
young people die, it is especially difficult
to deal with. You're always left
asking, "Why? Why them, and why
so young?" To these questions there
are no logical answers right now.
I believe that if Cheryl and Ron
could speak to us now, they would
tell us to be strong, be happy, always
be there for one another, and live every
day to the fullest. I also believe
they would thank us for the overwhelming
amount of love that has
been shown for them in the past few
days.
Asdifficultas times may become,
remember ihey are in a better place
and would not want to see us sad. So
the message we bend back to them
should be one of love, of strength, and
of thanks for allowing us to be a part
of their lives for the short time they
were here.
No one can foresee an accident.
Hopefully the effects of this one will
prevent others. It's a shame it takes a
iradgedy to open people's eyes to what
has always been right there before
them.
That cool November night
We learned you'd gone away
There was nothing we could do
No words left to say
Inside our hearts were breaking
We couldn't understand why?
The pain numbed us all
Leaving us there to cry
Life is so very precioui
You couldn't really be gone?
How do we say good-bye
When we've known you
for so long?
You were everyone's friend
Somehow this couldn't be true
It wasn't just a name
It was now someone we knew
In life things just happen , •
Things we can't explain
And we'll never understand
Why this tragedy came
But you will always live on
Inside all of our hearts
And the memories that we have
We'll never let depart!
Though the water may come
and wash the footprints away,
the memories will linger,
and resurface another day.
The waves can never erase
the good that they have done;
faded impressions remind us
their souls forever live on.
With love, Christine Muller
Ron,
I want to thank you for all the
good times weshared, and therewere
many. Nights out together, sports
we both played, and times on the
beach and my boat are all memories
1 could never forget.
I don't understand how things
could go wrong so suddenly - you
were such a good friend. It was incredible
how many people loved you,
including myself, I will miss your
charming personality, incredible
sense of humor, and your uncanny
ability to make those around you so
happy, I love you and will forever
miss your presence.
To Mr. and Mrs. Moretti, I send
my condolences. Be proud of Ron
and yourselves, forsomooneof Ron's
calibre can only come from parents
such as yourselves. Take comfort in
your supporters, for we are innumerable.
Mostimportantly,although
Ron's remembrance will bring tears
and grief, it must also bring joy, happiness,
and a smile, '
Bird Brain's message to students
Dean Sehoenwald, better known
as "Bird Brain" the Eagles' mascot,
came to Ocean Qty High on October
25. Bird Brain's message to the
students? Do not use drugs, steroids,
or alcohol, and especially not to drink
and drive. Ironically, students can not
be protected from people who have
not heard the message and that is why
two very special people are not here
today.
Dean mentioned the "Contract of
Life," a contract students sign with
their parents to allow the students to
ask for a ride at any time if they were
drinking and can't get a ride home.
This also protects the students from
their parents scolding or punishing
them until the next morning.
Bird Brain gave then a phone
number to call about their problems.
The number is iBOO-622-HELP.
Bird Brain was sponsored by
Domino's Pizza. Bill Massie, who is
from Domino's pizza, is directly responsible
for Dean's visit to GCHS as
well as to many other schools. ^
Dean Bchoercweld has been Bird
Brain since 1979. He has gone to over
200 schools. The students of OCHS
want to say thank you to Dean and
keep up the good work.
