Lela J. THRUSH, 91, formerly of 314 W. 11th St., <strong>Rochester</strong>, died at 7:22 p.m. Monday<br />

at Peabody Retirement Home, North Manchester, where she had lived since 1982.<br />

She was born Jan. 18, 1900 in Pulaski <strong>County</strong> to Robert M. and Sarah MURRAY<br />

THOMAS. She moved from Grass Creek to <strong>Rochester</strong> in 1933. On Dec. 6, 1919 in Grass Creek<br />

she married Lotus T. THRUSH, who died April 2, 1973. She was a graduate of Grass Creek High<br />

School, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.<br />

Surviving are two daughters, Betty JENKINS, <strong>Rochester</strong>, and Shirley ANDERSON,<br />

Logansport; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.<br />

Preceding in death were two daughters, Vivian SCHEID and Mary [ELLITHORP]; a sister, and<br />

two brothers.<br />

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, <strong>Rochester</strong>,<br />

with the Rev. Jack HARTMAN officiating. Burial will be in the <strong>Rochester</strong> I.O.O.F. Cemetery.<br />

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday. <strong>The</strong> Eastern Star will<br />

conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.<br />

Paul E. Hammond<br />

Paul E. HAMMOND, 70, of 14453 Redwood Road, Culver, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday at<br />

Okeechobee, Fla.<br />

He was born July 31, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Arthur and Sylvia SHARP<br />

HAMMOND. He moved from <strong>Fulton</strong> to Culver in 1946. On July 8, 1944 in South Bend he<br />

married Eilene SNOKE, who survives. He retired in 1982 from the McCord Corporation in<br />

Plymouth after 37 years of service. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War<br />

II in Africa and Italy. He was a member and past commander of the Plymouth VFW Post, past<br />

president of the Plymouth Eagles Lodge, and a member of the Bourbon American Legion Post and<br />

the Pyramid’s 98th Bomb Group Veterans Association.<br />

Surviving with his wife are a sister, Alberta WATSON, Three Rivers, Mich.; two<br />

brothers, Glen [HAMMOND], Milan, Mich., and Carl [HAMMOND], Norfolk, Va., and an aunt,<br />

Hazel ANDERSON, Argos.<br />

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth, with the Rev.<br />

Edwin McCLURE officiating. Military rites will be conductd by the VFW. Burial will be in Oak<br />

Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth,<br />

1100 N. Michigan St. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth,<br />

or the Hospice of Okeechobee, Fla.
