Gladys L. Harris<br />

Gladys L. HARRIS, 83, of 403 E. <strong>Rochester</strong> St., Akron, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday in<br />

Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.<br />

She was born Feb. 5, 1908 in Columbia Township, Whitley <strong>County</strong>, to Charles E. and<br />

Bessie Gertrude KEPPLER KEISER. She was married to Walter S. HARRIS, who survives. She<br />

attended the Cox Grade School and she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1926. She<br />

attended Purdue University. In 1933 she moved from Columbia City to Akron, where her husband<br />

was the Standard Oil distributor for many years. She was a clerk at Harris Drug Store in Akron<br />

for 10 years. She was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church and the Mother’s Study<br />

Club.<br />

Surviving with her husband, a resident of Grace Village at Winona Lake, are two sons,<br />

Lyle “Bud” [HARRIS], Akron, and Stephen L. [HARRIS], Frankfort; five grandchildren; four<br />

great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Herschel (Phyllis) HALL, Venice,Fla. Preceding in death<br />

was a sister, Ada I. SMITH.<br />

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hartzler Funeral Home,Akron, with the<br />

Rev. Merlyn COX officiating. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-<br />

5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Akron United Methodist church or<br />

the American Diabetes Association. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, is in charge<br />

of arrangements.<br />

James F. Kindig<br />

Word has been received of the Jan. 22 death of James F. KINDIG in Mesa, Ariz. He was<br />

buried in the National Veterans Cemetery, Phoenix.<br />

He was born June 9, 1919 in Akron. In 1959 he moved from South Bend to Mesa. He<br />

was a test driver for International Harvester, and a member of the American Legion, VFW and the<br />

Moose Lodge. He served in the South Pacific during World War II.<br />

Surviving with his wife, Dee [KINDIG], are a sister, Marietta CRAVER, Mesa, and two<br />

nephews.<br />
