Certified Nurse Assistant
(CNA)
Prerequisite: High School diploma or GED,
background check, fingerprinting and proof
of the following immunizations: Mantoux
(PPD2-step process).
Nurse assistants are in demand and serve
as healthcare workers in a variety of settings,
such as hospitals, home care, nursing homes,
or assisted living facilities. Nurse assistants
aid in the physical, psychosocial, social, and
spiritual needs of clients. Students will learn
basic care skills, vital signs monitoring,
infection control, transferring and feeding
of clients, communications skills, body
mechanics, bed making, Heimlich maneuver,
restorative care, and care of the dying client.
This state-approved program includes
50 hours of classroom content with 40 hours
of clinical practicum and prepares students
to take the licensing examination.

EKG
This course will give the student the ability
to perform EKGs in the hospital or the
doctor’s office. Students will learn: the
difference between normal and abnormal
dysrhythmias; the cardiac conduction
system; and the procedure for conducting
the EKG analysis, including patient
preparation.

Introduction to Phlebotomy
Satisfactory completion of this course
prepares the student for an entry level
position in the field of phlebotomy
(collecting blood specimens.) Students will
learn OSHA regulations, safety measures,
and capillary and venipuncture techniques.
Appropriate professional communication
techniques and proper handling and
transportation of specimens will be
emphasized. Course components include
lecture, lab practice and hands-on skills.
Satisfactory completion of this course will
require students to pass a written exam
and to successfully demonstrate their skills.
NOTE: This class does not provide a
clinical component at this time.

Certificate in Gerontology
The Certificate in Gerontology is designed
to enhance the knowledge and skills of
individuals who work with older adults by
providing an educational experience that is
multidisciplinary in nature. The Certificate
of Gerontology consists of a total of eight
courses: four core courses and four elective
courses. Accreditation: ALLEGRA Learning
Solutions, LLC is accredited as a provider
of continuing education in nursing by the
American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.
