Who should enroll?<br />

<strong>Gloucester</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>College</strong> will be offering a<br />

16-hour training seminar to prepare substitute<br />

teachers as well as to offer a refresher in-service<br />

program for substitute teachers currently employed<br />

by local school districts. This is a good course for<br />

anyone considering a career in education as a<br />

teacher, administrator, or paraprofessional.<br />

What are the requirements<br />

to qualify as a substitute<br />

teacher?<br />

• A minimum of 60 regionally-accredited<br />

college credits<br />

• A criminal history background check<br />

What does the Substitute<br />

Teacher Training Program<br />

• Professionalism, in and out of the classroom<br />

• Instructional techniques<br />

• Management, logistical functions, classroom<br />

and behavior/management<br />

• Professional interactive relationships between<br />

the substitute and the classroom teacher,<br />

non-instructional staff<br />

• Substitute application and certification process<br />
