OSHAA TTraining<br />

HAZWOPER 29 CFR 1910.120<br />

In 1976, the EPA created the Resource Conservation and Recovery ACT (RCRA) to regulate<br />

the handling of hazardous waste.<br />

In 1986, OSHA was given the task of protecting HAZMAT workers.<br />

In 1990, OSHA issued the HAZWOPER regulation, which requires a number of specific<br />

levels of employee training, depending on an employee’s involvement with hazardous materials.<br />

OSHA 10-Hour General<br />

This 2-day certification program provides participants with instruction on a variety of<br />

general industry OSHA standards. Topics covered will include: an introduction to OSHA:<br />

OSH Act/General Duty clause 5(a)(1), general safety & health provisions, walking working<br />

surfaces, means of exit, electrical safety, Personal Protective Equipment, machine guarding,<br />

hazard communications, and other topics. Upon completion, students will receive a 10-hour<br />

OSHA card.<br />

OSHA 8-Hour Hazwoper Refresher<br />

This course meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(e). OSHA specifies that a yearly<br />

refresher course is required for those with prior 40 or 24 hours of training to meet the above<br />

stated requirement. This refresher course will provide an update on regulatory changes, OSHA<br />

activities, health and safety procedures, Personal Protective Equipment Review, site incidents,<br />

emergency response, hazard recognition, confined space, Lockout Tagout, and more.<br />

Fire TTraining<br />

<strong>Gloucester</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Academy (GCFA)<br />

Firefighter I<br />

Prerequisites: Students must be 18 years of age; a member of a fire company, department or<br />

brigade; provide proof of enrollment in the organization’s respiratory protection program; and<br />

be prepared to demonstrate proof of physical fitness. Students must be equipped with gear<br />

that meets ALL applicable standards and regulations.<br />

*Note: Students must complete: I-100, I-700 & CPR and provide proof by end of semester.<br />

This course follows the National Fire Protection Standard 1001 and the New Jersey<br />

certified curriculum. Topics include: fire chemistry, fire ground safety, SCBA, ladders, search<br />

and rescue, communications, ventilation, fire suppression, HAZMAT Level I Awareness and<br />

Level 2 Operations, hazard communication, NJRTK, confined space awareness, and bloodborne<br />

pathogens.<br />

Cost: In-county resident — FREE (text included), Out-of-county resident — $150 (text included)<br />
