Carl August Franz Obituary (1896)<br />
August Franz was born January 25, 1822 in Saxony Weimar, Germany. After his confirmation, he<br />
learned the barrel making trade. A business he continued after leaving Germany and coming to<br />
Sheboygan <strong>County</strong>, Franklin, Wis. He married Louise Arnhoelter in the year <strong>of</strong> 1860. Five children<br />
were born to this union. August Karl, Minnie, William, Henry and Louise.<br />
In the year <strong>of</strong> 1884, the Franz family arrived in <strong>Clark</strong> county, Warner Township. He bought land about<br />
four and one half miles northwest <strong>of</strong> Greenwood, located near the German Reformed church, now called<br />
Immanuel United Church <strong>of</strong> Christ, and became a farmer. He passed away May 8, 1896 at the age <strong>of</strong><br />
