Sophie Franz, 97, Greenwood, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the <strong>Clark</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> Health Care Center, Owen. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m.,<br />

Tuesday, Jan 27, at the Immanuel United Church <strong>of</strong> Christ Cemetery, Greenwood.<br />

The Rev. Mark Schwinn <strong>of</strong>ficated.<br />

Sophie Franz was born on Jan 12, 1907 in rural Greenwood, to William C. and<br />

Anna (Decker) Franz. She was raised northeast <strong>of</strong> Greenwood, and educated at the<br />

Braun Settlement School. She worked in Milwaukee for a few years as a<br />

housekeeper. She had been at the <strong>Clark</strong> <strong>County</strong> Care Center for 75 years due to<br />

illness.<br />

Survivors include nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.<br />

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, and five bruthers.<br />

Cuddie Funeral <strong>Home</strong>, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.<br />

Ferinand (Fritz) Franz, 81, Greenwood, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1990, at the<br />

Veterans <strong>Home</strong>, King. funeral services were held Friday, Sept 14, 1990, at 11 a.m.<br />

at Rinka Funeral <strong>Home</strong>, Greenwood. Full military rites were performed by the<br />

Greenwood American Legion. Rev. John Tschudy <strong>of</strong>ficated and burial was in<br />

Westside Cemetery, Relatives served as pallbearers. Ferdinand Franz was born Oct<br />

26, 1908, in the twon <strong>of</strong> Warner, to William and Anna (nee Decker) Franz. He<br />

received his education at Braun Settlement schools. He farmed in his younger<br />

years and later worked for Stewart and Wuetrich cheese factores. He then retired<br />

and resided in Greenwood. He has been a resient at King since July. He was a<br />

World War II veteran and a member <strong>of</strong> the Greenwood American Legion.<br />

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Elmer, Greenwood; and Sophia Franz,<br />

Owen.<br />
