came to Greenwood, where she was married to August Franz Jan. 8, 1891. Mr. Franz preceded her in<br />

death seven years ago. Surviving are five sons, Calvin Franz, Owen; and Fred, Adolph, Otto and Harold<br />

Franz, all <strong>of</strong> Sidney, Mont.; two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Alma) Fravert and Mrs. Alvin (Leona) Albert,<br />

both <strong>of</strong> Greenwood; eight grandchildren, and two brothers, August Noah, Greenwood, and Simon Noah,<br />

Loyal. Adolph and Otto Franz have arrived from Montana to attend the funeral.<br />

Calvin Franz, 78, a lifelong resident <strong>of</strong> the Greenwood, <strong>Clark</strong> <strong>County</strong> area, died at<br />

10:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 1972 at the Memorial <strong>Home</strong> at Neillsville, where he<br />

had been a patient since June 16, 1971. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at<br />

Immanuel United Church <strong>of</strong> Christ here, with the Rev. Pacifico Camarin, pastor,<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficiating. Burial will be made in the West Side Cemetery. Here. Visitation may be<br />

made at the Hill Funeral <strong>Home</strong> from Thursday afternoon and after 11 a.m. Friday at<br />

the church. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Wallis-Hinker Post <strong>of</strong> the Greenwood American Legion. Mr. Franz was born Dec.<br />

17, 1893 in the Town <strong>of</strong> Warner, and was married there Sept. 21, 1921 to Meta<br />

Decker, who preceded him in death Feb. 23, 1969. After their marriage they farmed<br />

near Greenwood, and in 1948 they moved to the city <strong>of</strong> Greenwood and had since<br />
