Owen; Mrs. Theodore (Arvilla) Wessel and Mrs. Mike (Meta) Bolf, Greenwood.<br />

Carl August Franz <strong>Decendants</strong><br />
Henry Franz, son <strong>of</strong> the late Mr. and Mrs. August Franz, was born in Franklin, (Sheboygan Co.) Wis. on<br />
October 13, 1873 and came to Greenwood when he was 11 years old. He was a carpenter before his<br />
marriage. In April 1898, he was united in marriage to Augusta Decker and they settled on a farm 4 1/2<br />
miles northwest <strong>of</strong> Greenwood and lived there until 1945 when he retired from farming and has been<br />
residng with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bolf.<br />
At one time he held the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> assessor, and was a member <strong>of</strong> the Warner Town Board. He helped<br />
construct the West Side Church and schoolhouse. Surviving besides his widow are 10 children, Mrs.<br />
Henry (Minnie) Laube, Mrs. Harvey (Martha) Schwarze, and Mrs. Dave (Selma) Churkey, all <strong>of</strong> Owen;<br />
Mrs. Theodore (Arvilla) Wessle and Mrs. Mike (Meta) Bolf, Greenwood; Theodore, McMinnville,<br />
Oreg.; Emil, Quietus, Mont.; and Oscar, Edwin and Leondo, all <strong>of</strong> Greenwood. Other survivors are 17<br />
grandchildren a great-grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Abel, Willard. Two borthers, August and<br />
Wm., and a sister, Mrs. Kippenhand, proceded him in death . The Franzes had observed their golden<br />
wedding anniversary in 1948.<br />
Mr. Franz passed away at the home <strong>of</strong> his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bolf on Sunday,<br />
June 26, 1949. He has been in poor health since he suffered a stroke in March.<br />
