Sónar 2013 Sónar Barcelona celebrates 20 years of music, art and technology This year the 13th, 14th and 15th June will mark Sónar’s 20-year anniversary as an international platform for electronic culture. For over two decades Sónar has forged a unique identity and a pioneering format that make it a festival benchmark on a global level. With an audience from one hundred countries and with more than 40 festivals organized in 24 cities around the world, Sónar stands out as one of Spain’s most internationally known cultural icons. On its 20th birthday, the festival continues to take on new challenges and with this in mind has reinvented Sónar by Day, one of its flagship formats. Sónar by Day moves to its new first-rate location in Fira Montjuïc, expanding available space and creating Sonar+D, an evolution of the festival’s new-media and professional areas. The Sónar 2013 line up is headlined by the Kraftwerk 3D show (mythical parents of electronica) and by the Pet Shop Boys concert, as well as more than 150 performances, showcases, conferences and networking activities for music professionals and other creative industry sectors. 144 URBANSTYLEMAG
