Tell us your story. How did you get involved with music?
At the age of 5 I started playing the classical piano. Since then music has become my passion.
This sounds like the typical story but it is the truth. I was already into trip hop stuff like
Massive Attack or Portishead before I got into electronic dance music. The ‘clubby’ music
then came at the age of 15 or 16, when I started going to the first parties. In the meantime,
my brother came home with logic (a daw to produce music) and I instantly fell in love with
all the opportunities it gave.
You have a pretty solid, unique and mature style in your productions. Do you believe
that producers should have classical musical skills or just computing knowledge?
It’s not important, it might be useful and might help you but the things which count the most are talent and intuition. The thing I really admire
about people without any background is that they let themselves go. They don’t know musical borders. Sometimes I am sitting on my
keys, trying to find a theme for a new song and I fall into musical/classical structures I actually don’t want to have at the moment.
How did you decide to make the transition from pure electronic music
to a more classic and low-tempo album such as “Times”?
I wanted to combine nearly all my musical inspirations up to now. Taking the tempo down and making more
song- based tracks worked best for me.
