2. The order of competition will be determined by block style.<br />

3. Open scoring will be used.<br />

B. The GHSA gymnastics meets will be played according to the rules<br />

published by the National Federation with such GHSA modifications as<br />

may be found in this section.<br />

C. Each school desiring to participate in gymnastics must file its intent by<br />

April 1 of the preceding year by filing the form found in the “GHSA Forms<br />

Notebook.”<br />

D. The number of gymnastic meets allowed is ten regular-season meets<br />

plus one invitational tournament.<br />

1. The state elimination series does not count in these meets.<br />

2. An invitational tournament is defined as a competition involving<br />

more than three teams.<br />

3. All invitational tournaments must be approved by the GHSA Executive<br />

Director.<br />

4. Only two meets per week may be scheduled.<br />

5. In accordance with By-Law 2.66, only one night before a school day<br />

per week may be used for competitions beginning at 6:00 p.m. or<br />

later<br />

6. All teams and gymnasts (except when prevented by injury) must<br />

participate in a minimum of three (3) GHSA sanctioned meets during<br />

the regular season in order to be eligible to participate in the state<br />

qualifying meet.<br />

E. The season shall begin with practices commencing no earlier than<br />

January 17, <strong>2005</strong>, and the first competition being held no earlier than<br />

February 7, <strong>2005</strong>.<br />

1. There will be no interscholastic practice and/or scrimmages.<br />

2. The season ends for a team and an individual when that team or<br />

individual is eliminated from the state series or wins the State<br />

Championship.<br />

F. All gymnastics coaches are required to attend a GHSA rules clinic as<br />

specified in By-Law 2.54.<br />

PRELIMINARY MEETS:<br />

A. Preliminary (qualifying) meets will be held April 22, <strong>2005</strong>, at Dunwoody<br />

<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> and Lovett <strong>School</strong>.<br />

1. A school may have four (4) entries in each event, one of which may<br />

be the All-Around entrant.<br />

2. The top three (3) scores in each event will be used to determine the<br />

team score.<br />

3. The top six (6) individuals in each event will qualify for the State Meet.<br />

4. The top three (3) teams will qualify for the State Meet.
