C. Areas will be divided with consideration to geographic proximity and to<br />

the number of schools involved. The top four (4) wrestlers in each weight<br />

class from each Area Tournament will advance to the State Tournament.<br />

D. Wrestlers must wrestle in the Area and State Tournaments at the weights<br />

certified in accordance with the provisions of Section H-3 earlier in the<br />

wrestling guidelines.<br />

1. All weigh-in scales must be approved for accuracy by an agency or<br />

service once each year.<br />

2. The second weigh-in of the Area and State Tournaments will be<br />

conducted on Friday night at the conclusion of the first day of<br />

competition.<br />

E. The State Tournament will be scored to six (6) places.<br />

F. 1. Full wrestlebacks (double elimination) will be allowed at the State<br />

Tournament in all classifications.<br />

2. At the State Tournament, crossbracketing shall be used for<br />

wrestlebacks.<br />

G. In the event the Traditional State Tournament ends in a tie, the teams will<br />

be declared co-champions.<br />

H. FINANCES:<br />

1. AREA:<br />

(a) Officials are to be secured by the Area.<br />

(b) All finances will be handled by the Area, including all expenses,<br />

payment of officials, and distribution of receipts.<br />

(c) The GHSA will receive 5 percent of the gross gate receipts.<br />

2. STATE:<br />

(a) Each school participating in a State Tournament will be allowed<br />

free admission for twenty (20) team members plus a maximum<br />

of eight (8) mat maids.<br />

(b) Admission prices for State Tournaments are $7.00 per session,<br />

and $5.00 per session for students high school and under for<br />

pre-sale only when applicable. When pre-sale is not applicable,<br />

all fees at the gate will be $7.00. NOTE: Total tournament<br />

tickets may be sold for $15.00.<br />

(c) Officials are to be assigned and paid by the GHSA.<br />

(d) Each site hosting a State Tournament will be allocated funds as<br />

follows:<br />

(1) 8-man bracket: $2,000.00<br />

(2) 16-man bracket: $2,250.00<br />

(3) 32-man bracket: $2,500.00<br />

(4) Tournament Director: $150.00<br />

(e) Remaining gate receipts to be sent to the GHSA.
