3. The <strong>2005</strong> competition will be held at Starr’s Mill <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>,<br />

Fayetteville, on February 4-5, <strong>2005</strong>.<br />

(a) Friday's Schedule<br />

2:30-3:45 pm Registration in the Media Center<br />

4:00 pm Assembly in the Cafeteria<br />

4:30 pm Round 1<br />

6:30 pm Round 2<br />

8:30 pm Round 3<br />

(b) Saturday's Schedule<br />

8:30 am Round 4<br />

10:30 am Round 5<br />

12:00 noon Lunch<br />

12:30 pm Round 6<br />

4:00 pm Awards (both Classifications)<br />

4. The winner will be determined by the total number of ballots won at<br />

at the end of the tournament.<br />

(a) In case of ties, the winner will be determined by the total speaker<br />

points.<br />

(b) If ties remain after considering speaker points, the tie will be<br />

broken by dropping high-low points.<br />

5. Individual medals will be awarded to the top Affirmative and top<br />

Negative speakers.<br />

B. Each qualifying school will be required to provide one judge. The State<br />

Debate Meet Director and the <strong>Georgia</strong> Forensics Coaches <strong>Association</strong><br />

will be responsible for securing additional judges.<br />

1. <strong>High</strong> school students cannot be used as judges in state competition.<br />

2. One judge shall be used in each debate.<br />

3. After each debate, the judge shall deliver the ballot to the State Meet<br />

Director.<br />

4. Decisions are NOT to be revealed and oral critiques are NOT to be<br />

given.<br />

5. The State Meet Director will tabulate the results and announce the<br />

winner.<br />

C. The GHSA State Coordinator for Debate is Richard Bracknell, Carrollton<br />

SECTION 2<br />

DRAMATIC INTERPRETATION<br />

A. Practices for Dramatic Interpretation may begin no earlier than August<br />

16, <strong>2004</strong>, and no contests may be held prior to that date as well. The<br />

Literary season ends on May 31, <strong>2005</strong>.<br />

B. Separate contests will be held for boys and girls in Dramatic Interpretation.
