5.2 Stay Permit Permesso di soggiorno
All non‐EU students “studenti extracomunitari” need to apply for a stay permit “permesso
di soggiorno”. The students must go to the Stay Permit Desk “Sportello Stranieri” at the
Student Office “Segreteria Studenti” to have an application kit filled out. The Sportello
Stranieri has two locations at the Student Offices “Segreterie Studenti” (see 3.2.1.).
5.2.1 Documents required for the Stay Permit
Foreign students have to apply for a permit of stay within 8 working days of their arrival
in Italy. The students should go to the Sportello Stranieri, a special desk for the stay
permit application procedures.
You should have the following documents with you:
• Photocopy of all the pages of your passport (also blank pages)
• Your original passport
• Photocopy of an insurance policy (for example INA Assitalia)
• Photocopy of the university enrolment document (from the Segreteria Studenti)
• Photocopy of your fiscal code (codice fiscale) certificate
• 1 revenue stamp of €14,62
the immigration authorities. The postal fees and sending the application will cost about
