6.2.7 Student associations
The University of Pavia has many student associations. There are three Student Lists,
representatives of all the students of the university: the Coordinamento per il diritto allo
studio – Udu (left‐wing), Ateneo studenti (catholic) and Azione Universitaria (right‐wing).
Every two years there are elections where students can vote the list they want and the
elected students will take part in some administrative bodies of the University. A full list
of student associations can be found at:
6.2.8 Coordinamento per il diritto allo studio – Udu
This student association was founded in 1979 to protect student rights. The values of Udu
are solidarity, antiracism, antifascism and peace. The ideals are close to the political left
wing but, in order to be independent, they refuse any economic aid that doesn’t come
form their own activities. They organize film screenings, free entrance parties, lectures
and concerts. They offer assistance to all students, help with finding accommodation and
legal assistance in cooperation with other associations.
6.2.9 ESN – STEP
STEP (Studenti Erasmus Pavia) is a non‐political and non‐profit student association, whose
main aim is to provide Erasmus students with all the information and support they may
need in order to make the best out of their time in Pavia. Nearly all members of this
association have been Erasmus students themselves so they do really know what sorts of
problems or uncommon situations a foreign student has to face during a long stay
abroad. They can be helpful both in university concerns and in social life matters as well:
they organize language exchanges, meetings, parties, concerts, guided tours and other
distinctive or unusual events. Also other international students can participate in the
activities organized by ESN‐STEP.
