Yes you do, if you are not registered with the National Health Service. You should always<br />
ask for a proof of payment, in case a refund is possible by your insurance company.<br />
Are there price reductions on me<strong>di</strong>cines?<br />
If you are registered with the National Health Service you can get some me<strong>di</strong>cines at a<br />
low price (€2,00 = pharmaceutical ticket). You get the <strong>di</strong>scount when you give the<br />
pharmacist a prescription form a National Health Service doctor.<br />
Where can I find an open pharmacy at night or on Sundays?<br />
Outside every pharmacy there’s a notice board showing which pharmacy is open and its<br />
address. In this kind of a situation it is usually necessary to ring the doorbell for someone<br />
to open and serve you. The night service has got an ad<strong>di</strong>tional cost on every me<strong>di</strong>cine.<br />
Every open pharmacy can be recognized by a lit up green cross.<br />
Where can I find me<strong>di</strong>cines, apart from pharmacies?<br />
Para‐pharmaceutical shops and some supermarkets sell products that don’t need<br />
prescription (bandages etc.).<br />

Is it possible to buy every kind of me<strong>di</strong>cine by going <strong>di</strong>rectly to a pharmacy?<br />
Some me<strong>di</strong>cines (i.e.: antibiotics ) can be bought on prescription only.<br />
How can I get a prescription?<br />
A prescription can be written<br />
1. by a first aid doctor<br />
2. by a doctor on duty<br />
3. by a National Health Service doctor, chosen in you domicile area<br />
4. by any doctor<br />
