Analysis: The David Hayes-trained three-year-old Surging Wave
resumed after two unplaced runs in New Zealand with a good win
here. Chad Schofield rode him quietly, settling back in eighth place
one off the rails. He improved wide with cover from the 600m,
fanned wide on straightening and then ran on strongly to win well
by just under two lengths. It was a good win and he seems suited
to further.

Analysis: The promising four-year-old David Hayes-trained mare
Maraatib scored a runaway win. She travelled along kindly in
fourth place, one out and one back, before moving up three wide
on turning for home. She took the lead at the 200m and then raced
away to score by jfive and a half lengths, running the 1600m out
well. It was her first win but she now looks like to add further wins,
especially over longer distances.

Analysis: Marwood began well by Nick Hall eased him to settle in
fifth place, one off the rails, travelling comfortably. He cruised up
(four wide) rounding the corner, dashed to the lead at the 200m
and was eased down at the post to win by four and half lengths.
He has now won his only two starts and is a most promising threeyear-old.
