VALIRAAN TAKES LUTECE<br />

Valirann (3 c Nayef - Valima by Linamix),<br />

an Aga Khan-homebred, took out<br />

the Prix de Lutece (Gr 3, 3000m) at<br />

Longchamp by a short neck from Lucky<br />

Look (Teofilo). Montclair (Montjeu), who<br />

is owned by OTI Management, was the<br />

same distance back in third. Unraced at<br />

two, Valirann has won three of his four<br />

starts this year and yesterday’s victory<br />

gave his Shadwell Stud-based sire Nayef<br />

(Gulch) his 16th stakes winner.<br />

DESERT BLANC TAKES PIN<br />

Desert Blanc (5 h Desert Style -<br />

Lumiere Rouge by Indian Ridge) was the<br />

winner of yesterday’s Prix du Pin (Gr 3,<br />

1400m) also at Longchamp. Mayyadah<br />

(Invincible Spirit) finished in second<br />

with Sommerabend (Shamardal) third,<br />

beaten a neck and a head respectively.<br />

Desert Blanc won last year’s Manhattan<br />

Handicap (Gr 1, 10f) at Belmont.<br />

LOST IN The MOMENT<br />

SCORes IN TURKEY<br />

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained Lost In The<br />

Moment (6 h Danehill Dancer - Streetcar<br />

by In The Wings) won the Bosphorus Cup<br />

(Gr 2, 2400m) at Veliefendi. Ambivalent<br />

(Authorized) finished second with the<br />

favourite, Nymphea (Dylan Thomas)<br />

third. Lost In The Moment finished fifth<br />

behind Puisssance De Lune (Shamardal)<br />

in last year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr<br />

3, 2600m) at Flemington.<br />

PRoduCER TAKES TROPHY<br />

The International Topkapi Trophy (Gr 2,<br />

1600m) at Veliefendi was won by the<br />

Richard Hannon-trained Producer (4 c<br />

Dutch Art - River Saint by Irish River)<br />

who beat fellow English raider Chil The<br />

Kite (Notnowcato) by a head. The Turkish<br />

bred and trained White Ram f (Fri Pekan)<br />

finished third. Producer has now won<br />

eight of his 20 starts, with two of those<br />

being at Group Three level.<br />

ST LEGER TO LITTLE GORL<br />

The Deutsches St Leger (Gr 3,<br />

2600m) was won by Hey Little Gorl<br />

(3 f Sternkoenig - Homing Instinct by<br />

Arctic Tern) who beat Saratino (Lord Of<br />

England) by a short-head. Arango (Dai<br />

Jin) finished another length and a half<br />

back in third. Hey Little Gorl won at<br />

Listed level over 2200m at Hannover<br />

earlier this year.<br />

FORMER SHUTTLER SUCCESS<br />

AT SAN SIRO<br />

Former shuttlers, Kheleyf (Green Desert)<br />

and Oratorio (IRE) (Danehill) were both<br />

represented with stakes winners at San<br />

Siro yesterday with Maremmadiavola<br />

(2 f Kheleyf - Naked Poser by Night<br />

Shift) winning the Premio Eupili (Listed,<br />

1200m) and Sciolina (4 f Oratorio -<br />

Grigora by Carson City) taking out the<br />

Premio Pietro Bessero (Listed, 1600m.<br />

Sciolina was winning at stakes level for<br />

the second time whilst Maremmadiavola<br />

becomes her sires 15th stakes winner.<br />
