Beaufort wind scale<br />
The Beaufort scale <strong>of</strong> wind force, developed in 1805 by Admiral Sir Francis<br />
Beaufort, enables sailors to estimate wind speeds through visual observations <strong>of</strong> sea<br />
states. The table below is reproduced from <strong>the</strong> Admiralty Mariner’s Handbook.<br />
