members of the Mission should come from the private sector.<br />
Accordingly, Mr. Suriyon Raiva (21), President of the Thai<br />
Board of Trade, and owner of the Grand Hotel in Bangkok, was<br />
invited to become the Chairman of the Mission. In the initial<br />
stages it was expected that the Mission woulu not exceed 15<br />
Dersons.<br />
When the number reached 30 persons, applicants were<br />
told that the Mission limit had been reached but the final<br />
number was 32 Thai participants, plus some 13 dependents.<br />
In<br />
addition, there were several American observers from private<br />
firms in Bangkok who traveled with the Mission at their own<br />
expense.<br />
BIOGRAPHY OF DR. AMNUAY VIRAVAN<br />
Dr. Amnuay Viravan is Secretary General of the Government<br />
of Thailand Board of Investment in Bangkok.<br />
He received a B.<br />
Co. from Chulalongkorn University in 1952, and an M.B.A. in<br />
1954, and M.A. in Economics in 197, and a Ph.D. in Business<br />
Administration in 1958, all from the University of Michigan.<br />
Dr. Amnuay was Chief of the Fiscal and Accounting<br />
Systems Division from 1959 to 1964. He has served as Economic<br />
and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister since 1963,<br />
Director of the Technical and Planning Office since 1964,<br />
and Secretary General of the Board of Investment since 1967.<br />
His primary function is to promote capital investment in<br />
Thailand by providing necessary incentives and services to<br />
potential investors, both foreign and local.<br />
