In the world scene, Brazilian music is among the top 20 best sellers. However, Brazilian music is better recalled not for<br />

the money it represents, bur for the genres, styles and musical rythms which are not to be found in any other country in<br />

the world, just because of its diversity and distinctive quality of sound.<br />

Apart from de American and European circuits, Brazil was the first country ever to make a sound recording, in 1902.<br />

And now its phonographic history covering a hundred years, owns something more than music registration, as it<br />

comprises famous names such as Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil and many<br />

others. Brazil’s genres and musical rythms mix and merge with the natural culture of the country, and this makes Brazil<br />

a famous and respected place in terms of musical heritage thoughout the five continents.<br />

Brazilian Music is also known as the richest and most spontaneous form of domestic culture and expression.<br />

Recording of the first samba in Brazil: “Pelo Telefone”. It is a samba for Canival, created by Donga, and was recorded<br />

by Bahiano for Casa Edison in Rio de Janeiro.<br />
