I have spoken with many organizers who are doing this and who are enjoying record-setting attendance and exhibit space sales. Even events that operate in particularly hard-hit industries have been able to keep their audience as the result of out-reach. T r e n d i n g & S p e n d i n g Trade Show Executive’s Exposition Forecasting Board Tim McGill, CEO, Hargrove Inc. “Most shows in the First Quarter seemed to average a slight increase in attendance from the previous year, roughly 3% to 4%, depending on the industry sector. Net square footage has been up. This is due mainly to two factors: (1) Previous exhibitors contracting more space, and (2) The increase in the exhibitor base seems to be exceeding the attrition from non-returning exhibitors. “Our custom exhibit-building division has a strong and solid pipeline for the balance of the year. While that division is considered a lagging indicator, we expected to see a softening in the pipeline but that has not occurred. Our events division is continuing to see increased business. That segment is typically the first to contract but that has not occurred either. We remain confident in our expectations for trade shows, however, the industry sectors served will influence the strength of each show.
