Routeburn Track track length duration season access notes hut capacity hut fees 33 kilometres 3 days/2 nights Huts and campsites must be prebooked between late October and late April (summer season). Outside the summer season, huts are available to use but are not serviced. Avalanche danger may prevent you from walking. Please enquire at the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre. Track may be impassable due to snow/ice or avalanche danger during winter and spring. Public transport services both ends of the track. During the summer season there are Track Rangers, cold running water in huts, gas for cooking, lighting, heating and flush toilets. Bunkrooms are communal. Mattresses are provided. Walkers must supply all food, cooking utensils, eating utensils, sleeping bags and warm clothing Most people complete the Routeburn in 2 nights and 3 days. Camping at designated sites only. Prior booking is required for the use of huts or campsites. Bookings can be made online www.doc.govt.nz or at the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre.
