Operates all year round.<br />

A very pleasant track even in winter, as there are no alpine crossings although weather conditions can cause<br />

flooding and tree falls. Trampers should be well equipped and have good back country experience and safety gear.<br />

Popular option is to fly in to Martins Bay and walk out. Optional jet boat transport on Lake McKerrow during the<br />

summer season.<br />

It is recommended you leave your intentions with the <strong>Fiordland</strong> National Park Visitor Centre, Te Anau before starting this<br />

track.<br />

Some river crossings have 3-wire bridges.<br />

12 bunks in each hut. No guarantee of a bed - may need to carry a tent during busy times<br />

$15 per adult and $5 per youth in serviced huts<br />

$5 per adult and $2.50 per youth at McKerrow Island<br />

All huts have wood fires but no gas cookers and are partly serviced with the exception of McKerrow Island, which<br />

is a standard hut<br />
