The parking brake actuation valve shall be mounted on the left hand dash to the right of the<br />

steering column within easy reach of the driver.<br />

FRONT BRAKE SLACK ADJUSTERS<br />

The front brakes shall include Meritor automatic slack adjusters shall be installed on the chassis<br />

which features a simple, durable design offering reduced weight. The automatic slack adjusters<br />

shall feature a manual adjusting nut which cannot inadvertently be backed off and threaded grease<br />

fittings for easy serviceability.<br />

REAR BRAKE SLACK ADJUSTERS<br />

Haldex rear brake automatic slack adjusters shall be installed on the chassis.<br />

AIR DRYER<br />

The brake system shall include a Wabco System Saver 1200 air dryer with an integral heater with a<br />

Metri-Pack sealed connector. The air dryer incorporates an internal turbo cutoff valve that closes<br />

the path between the air compressor and air dryer purge valve during the compressor "unload"<br />

cycle. The turbo cutoff valve allows purging of moisture and contaminants without the loss of turbo<br />

boost pressure. The air dryer shall be located on the right frame rail behind the officer step.<br />

REAR BRAKE CHAMBERS<br />

The axle shall include TSE 30/36 brake chambers shall convert the energy of compressed air into<br />

mechanical force and motion. This shall actuate the brake camshaft, which in turn shall operate<br />

the foundational brake mechanism forcing the brake shoes against the brake drum. The TSE Type<br />

36 brake chamber has a 36.00 square inch effective area.<br />

AIR COMPRESSOR<br />

The air compressor provided for the engine shall be to provide and maintain air under pressure to<br />

operate devices in air brake systems. The brand provided shall be a Bendix BA-922 which shall be<br />

a twin-cylinder reciprocating compressor rated at 32.00 CFM. The compressor shall consist of a<br />

water-cooled cylinder head assembly and an integral air-cooled crankcase assembly.<br />

The cylinder head assembly shall be made up of the cylinder head, cooling plate and valve plate<br />

assembly and shall use two sealing gaskets. Depending on the application, the cylinder head and<br />

cooling plate may be aluminum or cast iron. A cooling plate shall be located between the cylinder<br />

head and valve plate assemblies and assists in cooling. The valve plate assembly consists of<br />

brazed steel plates which have valve openings and passages for air and engine coolant to flow into<br />

and out of the cylinder head. The compressor's discharge valves shall be part of the valve plate<br />

assembly. The inlet reed valve/gasket shall be installed between the valve plate assembly and the<br />

top of the crankcase.<br />

AIR GOVERNOR<br />

An air governor shall be provided to control the cut-in and cut-out pressures of the engine mounted<br />

air compressor. The governor shall be calibrated to meet FMVSS requirements. The air governor<br />

shall be located on the air cleaner bracket on the right frame rail behind the officer step.<br />

MOISTURE EJECTORS<br />

Manual drain valves shall be installed on all reservoirs of the air supply system.<br />
