Brick<strong>to</strong>wn Urban Design Committee 297-2576<br />

(Planning)<br />

Approves or denies applications for Certificates <strong>of</strong> Approval for building and<br />

renovation projects in Brick<strong>to</strong>wn. The five-member committee consists <strong>of</strong> one architect,<br />

three citizens who are tenants or owners within the BC District, and one citizen with<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> the District, all appointed by the Mayor. One citizen must be an architect<br />

with knowledge <strong>of</strong> his<strong>to</strong>rical preservation and the three citizens must be owners or tenants<br />

<strong>of</strong> Brick<strong>to</strong>wn property. The Committee meets on the second Wednesday <strong>of</strong> the month at<br />

9 a.m. in the second-floor conference room at 116 E. Sheridan.<br />

Building Code Board <strong>of</strong> Appeals 297-2948<br />

(Development Services)<br />

Hears and determines variances from the building code and appeals <strong>of</strong> decisions<br />

and orders <strong>of</strong> <strong>City</strong> building inspec<strong>to</strong>rs. The seven-member Board is appointed by<br />

the Mayor and includes one registered pr<strong>of</strong>essional engineer, one licensed architect,<br />

three <strong>Oklahoma</strong> <strong>City</strong> citizens qualified by construction experience <strong>to</strong> serve on the<br />

Board, and two citizens without such experience. When needed, the Board meets the<br />

second Wednesday each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber.<br />

Building Code Commission 297-2948<br />

(Development Services)<br />

Reviews the Building Code, considers proposed amendments and makes<br />

recommendations <strong>to</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Council. The nine-member commission appointed by<br />

the Mayor meets as needed.<br />

Central <strong>Oklahoma</strong> Transportation 297-3492<br />

& Parking Authority (Transit)<br />

Oversees operations <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>’s public transportation and parking systems<br />

including the METRO Transit bus system, the Brick<strong>to</strong>wn Trolleys, and <strong>City</strong> parking<br />

garages. The Authority’s board is composed <strong>of</strong> the Mayor, the <strong>City</strong> Manager, the<br />

<strong>City</strong> Finance Direc<strong>to</strong>r and five trustees appointed by the Mayor. The Board meets<br />

the first Friday <strong>of</strong> the month at 9 a.m. in the Council Chamber.<br />

Citizens Committee for 297-2232<br />

Community Development (Planning)<br />

Citizen members advise <strong>City</strong> Council on matters related <strong>to</strong> the <strong>City</strong>’s Community<br />

Development Block Grant program. Two members are appointed from each <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>City</strong>’s eight wards based on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the respective Council members,<br />

and the Mayor appoints four at-large members. The committee also includes<br />

approximately ten representatives from community agencies. All members serve<br />
