PROJECT STANDARD SPECIAL PROVISIONS<br />
GENERAL<br />
This contract consists <strong>of</strong> the Removal <strong>of</strong> selected vegetation and installation <strong>of</strong> new landscape material<br />
interchange <strong>of</strong> Business <strong>40</strong> <strong>South</strong>/421 and <strong>South</strong> Main Street (<strong>Kernersville</strong>, NC).<br />
All materials and workmanship shall be in accordance with the project Plans, Project Special provisions,<br />
project Standard provisions <strong>of</strong> Standard Special Provisions, Manual <strong>of</strong> Uniform Traffic Control Devices<br />
(MUTCD), Provisions contained in the applicable sections <strong>of</strong> the North Carolina Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Transportation’s Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures dated January 2012, and Drawings<br />
contained in the applicable sections <strong>of</strong> the North Carolina Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation’s Roadway<br />
Standard Drawings dated January 2012.<br />
The Contractor shall keep himself fully informed <strong>of</strong> all Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, and<br />
regulations, and shall comply with the provisions <strong>of</strong> Section 107 <strong>of</strong> the Standard Specifications. The<br />
following is the link to the current edition <strong>of</strong> the NCDOT “Standard Specifications for Roads and<br />
Structures” and “Roadway Standards Drawings”.<br />

MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE<br />
All prospective bidders must attend a mandatory Pre-Bid Conference at the location shown below. This<br />
conference will be conducted by <strong>Town</strong> personnel for the purpose <strong>of</strong> providing information about the<br />
project and to give bidders an opportunity to ask any questions they may have.<br />
Pre-Bid Conference on November 8, 2012 at 10:00 EST at <strong>Town</strong> Hall, 134 East Mountain Street<br />
<strong>Kernersville</strong>, NC 27284.<br />
CONTRACT TIME AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES:<br />

The date <strong>of</strong> availability for this contract is upon written notice to proceed.<br />
The completion date for this contract is April 26, 2013.<br />
The liquidated damages for this contract are one thousand dollars. ($1,000.00) per calendar day.<br />
INTERMEDIATE CONTRACT TIME NUMBER AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES:<br />
(2-20-07) 108 SP1 G14 B<br />
The Contractor shall not narrow or close a lane <strong>of</strong> traffic on Business – <strong>40</strong> <strong>South</strong> 421 and <strong>South</strong> Main<br />
Street, detain and /or alter the traffic flow on or during holiday weekends, special events, or any other<br />
time when traffic is unusually heavy, including the following schedules:<br />
HOLIDAY AND HOLIDAY WEEKEND LANE CLOSURE RESTRICTIONS<br />
1. For unexpected occurrence that creates unusually high traffic volumes, as directed by the<br />
Engineer.<br />
2. For New Year's Day, between the hours <strong>of</strong> 6 am December 31st and 6 am January 2nd. If New<br />
Year's Day is on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, then until midnight the following Tuesday.<br />
